Description

1948 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball from Final Weeks of His Life. Extraordinary single signed baseball finds the game's greatest figure in the final three weeks of his tenure as the living embodiment of the American dream--born into poverty before rising to the pinnacle of success and acclaim. Brilliance aside, few athletes of any stature could match the Babe's determination to serve the sport that elevated him, and the presented sphere serves as evidence of that determination. Though his handwriting is still strong, it's reasonable to assume that the stray, unusual marking between the inscription and autograph is the result of Ruth's failing health.

The blue fountain pen ink reads, "To My Pal Bud, Babe Ruth, 7-28-48," rating an impressive 8/10. Lead authenticator Steve Grad told us that this is the latest Ruth signed baseball he's ever encountered. The ball is likely an official model, but the passing decades have caused all factory markings to vanish from sight and provided an even, amber toning to the important relic. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
