1947 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball from His Final Trip to Indianapolis. Babe Ruth could have signed baseballs around the clock and it still wouldn't have been enough to satisfy the overwhelming flood of requests. Following his baseball career, Ruth still promoted the sport he helped popularize. This OAL (Harridge) baseball was signed by The Bambino when he made his final stop into Indianapolis. Ruth appeared at Victory Field August 4, 1947 for the American Legion Junior Baseball Nite. Although he was battling cancer and in a decidedly weakened state, Ruth accommodated at least one autograph seeker. This ball was signed during the exhibition game.The black fountain pen signature rates a stellar 8/10 and is reserved for a side panel. An unknown hand wrote "To Bob Kaye 1947 Indpls 'All-Star' Legion Junior Baseball" in blue ink. The Ruth autograph displays superbly by itself. A souvenir program from the event completes this catalog listing. Ruth is prominently featured on front of the program. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
