1946 World Series Game Seven Used Baseballs Lot of 2. Historic pair saw action in one of the most unforgettable Octobers in baseball history. With the war finally over, and the superstars swapping their army fatigues for Major League flannels, baseball was ready for a big splash, and got it in this meeting between the St. Louis Cardinals and the "cursed" Boston Red Sox. Though Game Seven's "Mad Dash" makes Enos Slaughter the name most folks remember from this event, we cannot overlook Harry "The Cat" Brecheen, the unflappable Cardinals ace who pitched a nine inning win in Game Six to stay alive, and then shut down the Red Sox as a reliever in Game Seven to earn his third, and most important, "W" of the Series. The first of these two baseballs makes note of the star hurler, an ONL (Frick) baseball inscribed in vintage block lettering, "1946 World Series, Cardinals Victors, Harry "The Cat" Brecheen Pitching." While it cannot be stated with absolute certainty, one is compelled to infer from this inscription and the clear game use of the baseball that this ball saw action during that famous "Mad Dash" Game Seven, as the notation seems to state the the Cardinals won the entire Series, and not just one of the other three games in which Brecheen claimed victory. The same could be said of the second ball, offering a shorter notation in the same hand as the first: "1946 World Series, Cardinals Victors." This Frick ball also features ten EX-MT blue ink signatures from Cards such as Brazle, Kurowski, Dusak, Dyer, Adams and Kluttz. It too shows apparent game use. To the best of our knowledge, these baseballs represent the first and second from this famous game ever to surface in the collecting hobby. One lucky collector will corner the tiny market on them with this purchase. LOA from PSA/DNA.
