Arguably the finest solo sphere in the hobby from the iconic Hall of Famer

1944 Cy Young Single Signed "Stat" Baseball. He owns the most untouchable record in American sports, but his athletic immortality is most directly ensured by his namesake trophy presented annually to the top hurler in each Major League. Quite literally a name synonymous with pitching excellence, Cy Young remains a distinct challenge for collectors of single signed horsehide over a century after he recorded the last of his 511 career victories. Though Young belied his surname by surviving to the advanced age of eighty-eight before his 1955 passing, the final decades of his life were enjoyed in pastoral seclusion, with most of the autographs traded in the hobby today being signed postcards and other "through the mail" paper formats. His appearance on the surface of a baseball is always a welcome deviation from the norm.

This, however, is no "ordinary" Young signed baseball, if such an adjective could ever properly apply. In a rare display of pride from the famously modest Hall of Famer, Young provides a short resume of his greatest baseball accomplishments along with his essential autograph. His writing, in full:

"Apr. 23, 1944, Cy Young, Peoli, Ohio, Won 511 - Lost 363, Pitched 4 No Hit Games, 1 Perfect Game."
