1943-46 Mel Ott Single Signed Baseball with Incredible Inscription to Toots Shor. Toots Shor's Restaurant was the place to be in New York during the 1930's and '40's. Athletes, movie stars and everyone who just had to be seen gravitated to the legendary restaurant. Baseball players frequented the joint following ball games and counted Bernard "Toots" Shor as a trusted friend. One of New York's finest sluggers was no stranger to Toots Shor's Restaurant. The diminutive Mel Ott showed up on occasion to check out the scenery. During one of his visits he signed this ONL (Frick) ball - produced between 1943-46. While any Ott single signed baseball is noteworthy, the side panel inscription has our full attention. Ott signed a side panel and left this incredible salutation "Hi Toots We put it on the bums this time." The Giants must have topped Dem Bums and left Ott in a celebratory mood. The ball has toned over the years and the signature borders on 8/10. Finding an Ott single is tough enough, but this inscription should have our extensive clientele out of their seats. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
