Description

1941 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball Given to Stan Musial as a Minor Leaguer. It was not long before his Major League debut with the St. Louis Cardinals on September 17, 1941 that two greats of the game shared a moment together. One of them ranked among the most famous men in the world. The other was a virtual unknown to the American public, but that was soon to change. Presented is an Official International League (Shaughnessy) baseball signed by Babe Ruth for a twenty-year old outfielder of the Rochester Red Wings, the Double-A farm club of the St. Louis Cardinals with whom Musial would earn his immortality. The sphere exhibits evident game use and a light coating of shellac that has performed its intended duty admirably, preserving the Babe's side panel blue fountain pen ink at an 8/10 level.

This is arguably the most significant Babe Ruth signed baseball to reach the hobby's auction block since a nearly pristine sphere inscribed to Ted Williams commanded a staggering $195,500 in April 2012. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
Letter of provenance from the Musial family.
