    Description

1940's Honus Wagner Single Signed Baseball. The most dominating everyday player of the first decade of the twentieth century, Honus Wagner averages for that period are astounding and include 101 runs, thirty-seven (37) doubles, fifteen (15) triples, ninety-six (96) RBI, forty-nine (49) stolen bases, and a .353 batting average. Fittingly, he capped off the decade by leading his Pittsburgh Pirates to victory over Ty Cobb's Detroit Tigers in the 1909 World Series. After his playing days were over, he founded the successful Honus Wagner Co. sporting goods store in 1918 which flourished for ninety-three years.

This "Official Major League Ball" was produced by Wagner's sporting goods company and bears its stamp. One of the panels is inscribed and signed "to Roger Sichi, from J. Honus Wagner" in The Flying Dutchman's unmistakable black fountain pen cursive. The ball exhibits some browning and discoloration. A light coat of shellac was added to preserve the autograph which grades an impressive 8/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
