    Description

1938 American League All-Star Team Signed Baseball. Crosley Field served as the home of the 1938 Midsummer Classic, bringing American League players to Cincinnati for the first time since Shoeless Joe and the Black Sox visited in October 1919. Despite a roster packed with top-tier Hall of Famers, the Americans ended up on the short side of a four to one final, much to the delight of fans on hand to cheer starting National League pitcher Johnny Vandermeer of the Reds. The cast of immortals appearing upon the provided OAL (Harridge) ball makes the National League victory all the more impressive, as we find no fewer than eleven Hall of Famers among the twenty-five autographs: Foxx, Gehrig, Cronin, McCarthy (clubhouse), Gomez, DiMaggio, Gehringer, Dickey, Ruffing, Averill and Grove. Autograph quality averages 7/10 beneath a light coating of shellac. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
