Description

1938 American League All-Star Team Signed Baseball. Crosley Field served as the home of the 1938 Midsummer Classic, bringing American League players to Cincinnati for the first time since Shoeless Joe and the Black Sox visited in October 1919. Despite a roster packed with top-tier Hall of Famers, the Americans ended up on the short side of a four to one final, much to the delight of fans on hand to cheer starting National League pitcher Johnny Vandermeer of the Reds. The OAL (Harridge) ball is coated in an even layer of shellac, preserving most signatures to an average of 7/10. Present are Gehrig (chipping of shellac over signature), DiMaggio, Feller, Averill, Dickey, Foxx, Gehringer, Ruffing, Gomez, and even winning pitcher Vandermeer. Eighteen signatures total, with over half enshrined at Cooperstown! LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
