    Description

1937 World Series Game Two Used Baseball Caught by John Heydler. The former National League president snared this foul ball moments before the mighty Yankees claimed a two games to none advantage over their cross-river rivals the Giants at Yankee Stadium. Oddly both of the first two games ended with an eight to one tally in the Yankees' favor, but the information neatly penned (presumably by Heydler himself) on the side panel reflects the second contest. It reads, "1937 N.Y. A.L 8, [N.Y.] N.L. 1, 9th inning, 2 Out, Ball fouled into Mezzanine Box 183, Caught by John A. Heydler, A.L. Ball, Latest Mfr, Hit by Whitehead Giant." The ball's stamping has faded from view, but Heydler's notation tells that tale. Game use is clearly evident. An intriguing Subway Series relic.
