Description

1936 Arky Vaughan Single Signed Baseball. It was just two years ago that Heritage proudly presented what had been, at the time, the only known single signed baseball known to survive from the tragically abridged life of this Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer. Just forty years old when he drowned during a 1952 fishing expedition, Vaughan has served as one of the greatest challenges to collectors of Hall of Fame singles ever since his 1985 posthumous induction, so we're pleased to fulfill the dream of another Heritage bidder here. The ball is autographed and dated "Aug. 10, 1936" by Vaughan on the side panel at a level assessed as 3/10 in PSA/DNA's full grading letter of authenticity. They note that the score on the opposite panel, "Pittsburgh 4, New York 3," is rendered in another hand, and we note that this score does not match the date in question, a fact that in no way affects the authenticity of Vaughan's autograph. The ball is toned with use and age and has shed its stamping as a result, but we must assume it is of Official National League stock. The Vaughan single population is now two. Bid accordingly. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, Fair+ 2.5. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
