Description

1935 First Night Game Game Used Baseball.

UPDATE: This lot includes a Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

One could easily argue that nighttime baseball was the biggest thing to happen to baseball allowing millions of fans the opportunity to watch baseball after a long days work. While daytime baseball will always have a soft spot in true fans' hearts, moving the game to prime time was instrumental in its advancement. The very first night game took place in Cincinnati during the 1935 season. President Franklin D. Roosevelt flipped a switch in the White House and flood lights illuminated the diamond at Cincinnati's Crosley Field, bringing Major League Baseball into the night for the first time.

This ONL (Frick) baseball saw action that big night in Cincy. One panel has "First Night Game National League May 24 1935" written. Another panel has a line score created. A few of the featured guests from the game signed their names on the ball. One of the autographs is of Hans Lobert who singed "John Hans Lobert Capt." in black ink. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
