Description

1934 Tour of Japan Team Signed Baseball with Rare Original Box. "Dear Graham," reads the handwritten note penned on the business card of an American diplomat to Japan, "We've just had a visit from some famous men whose names you will recognize. Hope you'll like this kind of Christmas present, Merry Christmas! Cousin Graham." One youngster's Christmas morning thrill will be the winning bidder's soon, as this cherished sphere makes its first hobby appearance within this auction. The historic horsehide thrillingly retains its rare original cylindrical "Mizuno Official University League" box, which has served as its home and protector for close to eight decades. Fifteen signatures adorn the creamy horsehide: Ruth, Gehrig, Mack, Gomez, Averill, Gehringer, McNair, Cascarella, Whitehill, Quinn, Miller, Warstler, O'Doul, Hayes (4/10), Berg (3/10). Unless otherwise noted, all autographs rate at least a very conservative 7/10, most better. Unquestionably one of the very finest examples of this key relic from the game's most noteworthy foreign excursion. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
