1934 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. The 1934 edition has long been coveted by Yankee team ball collectors as a closing bookend to Babe Ruth's fifteen seasons of pinstriped service, but this particular example thereof is the finest we've yet encountered. While the marvelous condition of the signatures plays a leading role in this determination, the fountain pen autographs of the twenty-seven signers secured to 8/10 average strength beneath a vintage coating of shellac, it's the teeming tally of Hall of Fame immortals that sets this model apart from the rest.

No fewer than eleven Cooperstown residents share space upon the provided OAL (Harridge) ball, the highest population of any team ball we've ever encountered. The standard player roster one would expect to find accounts for eight of them: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earle Combs, Red Ruffing, Bill Dickey, Joe Sewell and Lefty Gomez. Manager Joe McCarthy, commonly absent on team balls, carries the tally to nine. Number ten comes in the form of forty-year-old veteran Burleigh Grimes, who wore pinstripes only two months during this last campaign of his career. And, finally, one of the only Ed Barrow autographs we've encountered on a team ball accounts for Hall of Fame autograph number eleven, though PSA/DNA reports he appears secretarially, along with Allen and Broaca.

A small circular impression on the western panel affects a few signatures to a minor degree--Sewell being the only Hall of Famer touched--but otherwise the glossy surface of the shellacked sphere is clean and clear. An extraordinary specimen for the collector seeking something truly special. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
