Description
1934 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball from Tour of Japan Stop in Hawaii. A fascinating letter of provenance attributes this relic to the Bambino's visit to Hawaii, incorrectly recalled as 1933 but almost certainly the following year when Ruth joined a host of All-Stars en route to the enormously important 1934 Baseball Tour of Japan. It had been the prized possession of the son of a pair of employees of The Honolulu Advertiser newspaper, who took their boy to the ballpark to see the greatest name in American sports. He left the grounds with this OAL (Harridge) ball bearing the sweet spot signature of Babe Ruth, that blue fountain pen application surviving with extraordinary 8.5/10 strength. The ball is lightly soiled, suggesting it saw action in that Depression-era contest. Included in the lot is a photograph of Ruth with Duke Kahanamoku, the greatest athlete in Hawaiian history and "Father of Surfing," shot during that visit to the island paradise. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.More information about Babe Ruth.
