Description

1933 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Game Used Baseball. A notation on the sweet spot of the provided OAL (Harridge) sphere reads, "Used in Major League game--New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox, June 17th, 1933," a contest that saw Lou Gehrig come up a triple short of the cycle while driving in two of the visitors' runs in an eight-to-three defeat of the Comiskey Park residents. Just a month later, the very first All-Star Game would be contested on the same grounds.

The Iron Horse and the iconic Babe Ruth share a side panel together in spectacular 9/10 black fountain pen ink, signatures that would assure a high five-figure result if the roster ended there. But we also find Kiki Cuyler (8/10), Frank Frisch (8/10) and Dizzy Dean (7/10) among the other five residents, these fellow Hall of Famers almost certainly dating from the Midsummer Classic event as each was a National Leaguer in 1933 and would have had no business attending a regular season American League game.

The ball is deeply-toned with beneath a light coating of shellac and exhibits general handling wear, but the autograph strength proves the wisdom of the sealant in this instance. Easy to display with just Ruth and Gehrig, thus a bona fide treasure for the pinstriped faithful. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
