1932 New York Yankees Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig, Pennock, Combs & Lazzeri. Of the twenty-seven pinstriped editions to deliver World Championship glory to the fans in the Bronx, this Golden Age club stands in baseball lore as the finest of the lot. In fact, this club is the answer most commonly given by baseball experts and historians when pressed to name the greatest baseball team of all time, bar none. When one considers the roster made available to Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins, the reasoning behind this wide consensus becomes clear. The nearly supernatural slugging powers of Home Run King Babe Ruth and season MVP Lou Gehrig fed an unprecedented offensive onslaught that saw the Yanks almost quadruple the American League team long ball average. Earle Combs topped the League in both singles and triples. Tony Lazzeri reached triple-digits in the RBI column. So deadly were the bats that stacked the Yankee line-up that sportswriters referred to the club with the rather sinister moniker "Murderer's Row." While the team had plenty of offensive power, it still needed pitchers to hold the opposition at bay. Herb Pennock was one of he men at the top of the rotation. His 19 wins trailed only Waite Hoyt.

Our firm has had the luxury of selling many mementos related to the Yankees' signature team. This slightly toned Southern Association baseball, with John Martin listed as league president, was signed by five of the seven Hall of Famers from baseball's most famous team in 1932. Our consignor's grandfather secured the autographs before an exhibition contest in August that year. Only Huggins and Hoyt are not represented on the ball. As was customary, Ruth is reserved for the sweet spot. His 9/10 autograph is joined by signatures of Gehrig (6/10) and Earle Combs on an adjacent side panel. The "Lou" witting is stellar while the "Gehrig" portion has faded somewhat. Pennock and Lazzeri, both 9/10, share the north panel. We give the astute autograph collector who secured the signatures an A+ for seeing into the future. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
