1931 Tour of Japan American & Japanese Team Signed Baseballs Lot of 2 from the Beans Reardon Collection.

UPDATE: Only Gehrig has been deemed secretarial. All other signatures are deemed authentic.

While not as celebrated as the 1934 Tour, the 1931 Tour featured a star-studded lineup of stars and the team balls are far scarcer. ONL (Heydler) sphere with red and blue stitching is inscribed "All-American Tour of Japan 1931" and graced with eighteen fountain pen autographs.

Hall of Famers include: Lou Gehrig (deemed "clubhouse"), Lefty Grove (7/10), Al Simmons (7/10), Mickey Cochrane (5/10), Rabbit Maranville (9/10), Frankie Frisch (9/10), George Kelly (6/10), Fred Lieb (8/10, writer), and Frank O'Doul (9/10, Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame).

Others include: Beans Reardon (umpire), Billy Cunningham, Herb Hunter, Muddy Ruel, Ralph Shinners, Tom Oliver, and Willie Kamm.

The ball was shellacked and shows some chipping and browning in spots. Autographs average 7/10.

"Official Six University League Of Tokyo BBL" baseball with red and blue stitching is inscribed "All Japan Baseball League 1931" and signed by approximately sixteen in Japanese language. PSA/DNA was inconclusive on the Japanese autographs. The ball shows some browning and wear but still attractive. The ink autographs appear to grade an overall 8/10.

Considered the highest level of baseball in Japan prior to the establishment of the Japanese Professional Baseball league in 1936 and Nippon Professional Baseball in 1950, the Tokyo Big6 Baseball (established in 1925) was an intercollegiate baseball league that included six prominent universities, namely Hosei, Keio, Meiji, Rikkyo, Tokyo, and Waseda. PSA has ruled "inconclusive" on the Japanese signed ball. Letter of provenance from Reardon family.Full LOA from PSA/DNA (American autographs).
