1931 Chicago Cubs Team Signed Baseball. A year before the Cubs were World Series worthy, they were stuck in third place and just a notch above the .500 mark. This Rogers Hornsby Official League ball is signed by the bulk of '31 Cubs in black ink. A top coating is applied to preserve the autographs to the fullest extent. Taking top billing on this slightly toned orb is the signature of Hornsby. The Rajah doubled up and served as skipper of the ballclub. The twenty-seven signatures, most 8/10 with a few lesser, include: Warnecke, Nelson, Bell, Taylor, Smith, RC Lewis (twice listed as secretary), Sweetland, May, Root, Bush, Grace, Stephenson, Cuyler, Hartnett and more. A few of the other autographs may be front office workers. Since Hack Wilson did not sign on, we assume he was enjoying a few beverages at a local speakeasy. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
