Description
1930's Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. The Bambino's distinctive script fills the side panel of the presented sphere, providing "To Gregery From Babe Ruth" with superior black fountain pen ink boldness. The young Gregory has written his name on the panel just above, and PSA notes faded (effectively invisible) writing on another panel, but these issues cause no real distraction. The ball is modestly and evenly toned, adding an attractive vintage patina to the proceedings. A fine specimen with an autograph that can be seen from across the room. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. We have learned this was one of two baseballs signed for an employee in the pharmaceutical department of the hospital where Babe Ruth was treated for the cancer that would eventually lead to his passing in August of 1948. The man had the Babe sign two baseballs then presented them as gifts for his two very young nephews. One lucky recipient is the man who consigned this baseball to Heritage. The additional writing was done by the uncle who wanted to make sure the Babe spelled his nephew's name correctly as his name was spelled ending in "ery" as opposed to the more traditional "ory" or Gregory.
