Description
1930 Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth. "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," thought the great Bambino, whose Yankee squad could not derail the freight train that was Connie Mack's second great dynasty. Ruth appears as the only Yankee on this OAL (Harridge) ball featuring ten autographs from the World Champion Athletics. His signature commands a side panel in 5/10 blue ink, a bit light but instantly recognizable and legible. The balance of the autographs fare quite a bit better, with Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Cochrane and Lefty Grove all bold and dark. Thrilling to 1919 Black Sox enthusiasts is the appearance of a bold signature from Kid Gleason, the club's manager who suffered in ignorance as his boys threw the Series. A mighty bat mark on a blank side panel leaves little doubt as to this ball's appearance in Championship season action, leaving us to wonder if Jimmie or Mickey (or even the Babe) might have dropped this one into the outfield bleachers before it was signed. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.More information about Babe Ruth.
