    Description

1929 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Nineteen-twenty-nine was a tough year for the Big Apple. After two magical summers and autumns, the two-time defending World Series champions lost their manager, Miller Huggins, in August and finished eighteen games behind Mack's Men in September. And in October, The New York Stock Exchange crashed.

Packed with twenty-two signatures from the Bronx Bombers last installment of the Roaring Twenties, this OAL (Barnard) baseball features seven Hall of Famers, including Babe Ruth (sweet spot), Lou Gehrig (side panel above the Barnard stamp), Bill Dickey, Earle Combs, Tony, Lazzeri, Leo Durocher, and Waite Hoyt. Others in attendance here include Bob Meusel, Mark Koenig, Tom Zachary, Benny Bengough, George Pipgras, Fred Heimach, John Grabowski, Wilcy Moore, Sam Byrd, Lyn Lary, Hank Johnson, Ben Paschal, and Cedric Durst (twice).

The ball has browned over the years but most of the stamping is still visible. Meanwhile, the black fountain pen autographs grade an overall 6/10, with The Sultan (8/10) and The Iron Horse (6/10) quite prominent. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
