    Description

1929 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Katy Park, located in Waco, Texas, was constructed in 1905 and witnessed some top level baseball through its existence. A number of Texas League teams called the venue home over the decades. The stadium even survived a tornado in 1953, before it was finally demolished in 1965. One of the biggest days in the stadium's history was when Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig came to town for an exhibition on April 4, 1929. The Yankees took on the Waco Cubs of the Texas League that day and easily won 13-3. Major League teams often staged exhibitions throughout the south as they got ready for the rigors of the regular season. Ruth put one in the cheap seats so the patrons went home happy. One of the baseballs which found its way into the crowd was gathered by our consignor's father's uncle that day. He brought the ball to the main men of Murderers' Row and had them sign on.

As was customary, Ruth penned his identity to the sweet spot in bold (8/10) blue fountain pen. Gehrig was pushed off to a side panel (6.5/10) in lighter blue ink. Both signatures have white spots. The ball shows definite game use, regular age/toning and has the Texas League President's stamping on the side. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
