Description

1928 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Though the 1927 edition will always be known as the greatest of them all, this squad was virtually identical and likewise ended its season with a four-game sweep of its National League opponent in the World Series. The OAL (Johnson) format and "1927" written in an unknown hand would both lead one to the conclusion that this is a Murderer's Row sphere, but the appearance of Hall of Famer Stanley Coveleski assures that the ball was signed after his December 21, 1927 contract signing with the Yanks.

Babe Ruth takes his proper sweet spot position, his last name quite faded but his famous nickname much bolder and framed by those desirable quotation marks. Combs, Gehrig and Lazzeri form a Hall of Fame trio on the panel to the north. A bold panel to the south averages 7/10 and includes Hoyt, Pennock, Grabowski and Collins. Others of note include skipper Huggins, Meusel, and O'Leary.

Twenty-one (nineteen legible) signatures appear in total. A marvelous memento of the most gilded age of Yankeedom. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (certification number AJ00731)
