    Description

1928 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. While the previous season's model is considered the absolute finest of the franchise's twenty-seven World Championship editions to date, this row was no less murderous than its older sibling. Yet again, Ruth and Gehrig paced the American League in long ball artistry, with the season concluding in a merciless four-game Fall Classic sweep.

Seven Cooperstown immortals are counted among the seventeen signatures applied to the surface of this OAL (Barnard) sphere, starting, of course, with a sweet spot Ruth applied with impressive 8/10 strength. The balance of Hall of Famers: Combs (twice: 7/10 and 6/10), Lazzeri (last name effectively lost to a scuff), Gehrig (5/10), Durocher (4/10), Pennock (7/10), Coveleski (3/10). Twenty-three signatures range from 2/10 to 8/10, balanced fairly evenly between the upper and lower ends of that scale. A solid tribute to the third World Championship edition of the New York Yankees story. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
