    Description

1928-33 Spalding Official National League (Heydler) Baseball In Original Unopened Box. This exceedingly rare enticing Spalding ONL (Heydler) baseball is still in its original unopened box, complete with the unbroken paper band it was issued with. The patent number and color of the stitching, both visible on the box, serve to date this specimen to the 1928-33 period.

The box displays light wear, including minor creases and abrasions. The band has some small tears which have been repaired by a strip of clear tape. But none of these minor imperfections distract significantly from the overall display appeal of this magnificent specimen, and are completely understandable when one considers the exemplar's 100-year vintage. The ball itself, which has remained safely sealed inside since The Great Depression, is presumably still in a pristine state.

A true "time capsule" artifact which has remained in virtually the same state since it was produced a century ago, when immortals named Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby, Foxx, and Grove strode boldly across national baseball diamonds.
