Description

1927 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig & Waner Brothers Signed Baseball Used in World Series Warm-Up by Herb Pennock. Provenance is provided by an obviously decades-old laminated typed sheet which reads, "From The World Series of 1927. Herb Pennock used this Ball in warming up and then autographed it for the owner, as did Babe Ruth, Lloyd Waner, Paul Waner, Bob Meusel, Donie Bush, Lou Gehrig, Dan Howley." The story surely appears to check out, as Ruth's quotation-marked signature and Gehrig's smaller offering are both identical to 1927 exemplars, and the OAL (Johnson) ball is likewise the model used in that historic Series. And, of course, the combination of Yanks and Pirates is a very strong indicator of Fall Classic vintage. Signature quality is as follows: Ruth 6/10, Gehrig 4/10, Lloyd Waner 4/10, Paul Waner 3/10, Pennock 2/10, Meusel 1/10, Bush 3/10, Howley 8/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
