    Description

1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Home Run Baseball from Exhibition Game. Babe Ruth ascended to the top of the baseball world when the sport needed some good news. The Black Sox scandal of 1919 hovered around the game and the bombastic Ruth was the perfect tonic. In 1927 and '28, Ruth and teammate Lou Gehrig combined for various exhibitions to help spread some baseball cheer across our great nation. This baseball was launched into orbit by Ruth during an exhibition in Des Moines, Iowa. Following a homer, the ball was retrieved and then gifted to youngster Frederick Stewart as an essay prize conducted by Younker Brothers. Second and third place didn't do too bad as they received signed baseballs from the dynamic duo. Ruth's sweet spot signature rates 5/10 while Gehrig's side panel autograph is a few notches below. The ball saw plenty of action and has toned noticeably. A copy of the original newspaper article spelling out Stewart's story will attend. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
