Description
1926-27 New York Yankees Signed Softball with Ruth, Gehrig. Your best chance to own a '27 Yankees signed ball at a price that won't break the bank. Ten signatures appear, with every last one a member of the famous 1927 team. Note that each player present was on the 1926 team as well, which accounts for our title, and the fact that PSA/DNA has certified the ball as both years, rather than one or the other. Babe Ruth takes his appropriate sweet spot position, in 6/10 to 7/10 condition. On the panel to the right appears team trainer "Doc" Woods, Bob Meusel, Herb Pennock, Joe Dugan and Pat Collins. These range from 5/10 to 7/10, all easily legible. The panel above Ruth holds the balance of the signatures, and here an unusual thing has happened. The ink has faded entirely away, but has left very clear and legible "ghosts" which are just as legible as their darker teammates'. These include Mike Gazella, Bennie Bengough, Lou Gehrig and Dutch Ruether. The ball itself remains in fine condition. Futhermore, the exagerrated size of the softball results in similarly large autographs, each much bigger than you'd find on your standard OAL ball.
