    Description

1925 Washington Senators Partial Team Signed Baseball. The perpetual cellar dwellers inspired the old joke, "Washington: first in war, first in peace, last in the American League," but for a brief, shining moment, our nation's capital became the center of the baseball world. In his eighteenth season, the mighty Big Train finally had his World Championship, and he'd follow up with a second American League pennant the year this ball was signed. We find Walter Johnson on the sweet spot of this OAL (Johnson) baseball, surrounded by ten of his teammates. Battery-mate and 1924 World Championship walk-off baserunner Muddy Ruel is here, along with Goslin, Rice, Harris, Schacht, Severeid, Judge, Ruether, McNeely and Zachary. An unknown hand dates the ball to "August 3, 1925," corresponding to a home loss to the Detroit Tigers. It's likely the ball was used in the contest. Autograph quality ranges from 6/10 to 9/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
