Description
1924 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. Most baseball historians are well aware of Ruth's barnstorming tours in 1927 as part of the Bustin' Babes vs. Larrupin' Lous domestic tour and the historic 1934 Tour of Japan, but we suspect there will be many among you who didn't know that Ruth visited the Pacific Northwest in the weeks following the end of the 1924 Major League season. The presented ONL (Heydler) ball bears a faded inscription in an unknown hand on the southern panel that reads, "Signed at Spokane, Oct. 17, 1924 for A. P. Murphy." And what a beauty of a signature it is, an 8/10 black fountain pen sweet spot application complete with those desirable quotation marks.A quick check of the historical record indicates that the Babe didn't disappoint his Spokane fans, launching two long balls in that October 17th exhibition. Who knows--this may be one of them! The ancient sphere does have the appearance of a game used ball. A truly special relic from the only year the Bambino won a batting title (.378). Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
