1923 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Signed Baseball. The 1923 Pittsburgh Pirates delivered an exciting, high-powered season built on elite hitting and solid pitching. They finished 91-63, showcasing one of the National League's strongest offenses. Max Carey was brilliant at the top of the lineup, batting around .355 and scoring runs in bunches. Pie Traynor anchored the infield with a .330+ average and steady defense at third base. Outfielder Kiki Cuyler added speed, power, and timely hitting. On the mound, Wilbur Cooper led the staff with about 18 wins, giving the Pirates consistent chances to win. It was a confident, competitive club that thrilled fans all season.This ONL (Heydler) baseball is signed by eighteen in black fountain pen. Many of the autographs are lost to age/exposure. A few team members printed their names at the early attempt of a team-signed baseball. Included are: Barnhardt, Morrison, Russell, Adams, McKechnie (6/10 with first name darker), Carey, Bigbee, Gooch, Steineder, Kunz, Maranville (last name has material loss), Bagby, Cooper and a few more.
