Description

1922 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. It was the Yanks' last season rooming with the Giants at the Polo Grounds, and their meeting that October marked the first time an entire World Series was played at a single park. Likely signed in the shadow of Coogan's Bluff, this "Cock of the Walk" brand baseball features a selection of the pennant-winning Yankees, with an early "Babe" Ruth autograph appearing in 7/10 black ink on the sweet spot. The balance of the signatures have not survived the decades quite as well as the young Bambino's, but among the more legible names are Schang, McNally, Fewster, Scott, Shawkey and Bush. We can also make out Carl Mays, but the few others have been lost to the ravages of time. Nonetheless, the ball deserves accolades merely for its early-1920's Yankees vintage, and the Ruth signature is certainly nothing to squawk at, and worth the cost of admission by itself. LOA from PSA/DNA.
