Description
1922 "Babe" Ruth Signed Baseball. Very early OAL (Johnson) sphere might be worth tens of thousands if Ruth was the only man to lay pen to horsehide here, as his sweet spot signature is a phenomenal 9+/10, and that quotation-marked, stylized, slightly smaller format that precedes the World Championship Yankees era. And the fact is, the ball practically does present as a single, as this tough and highly coveted signature variation appears on the sweet spot with just one other significantly less prominent autograph on the southern panel, and that signer's equally light personalization and "1922" date on the northern side. We're fairly convinced that this other signature is simply a civilian who gifted the Ruth single to a friend, edging the ball ever closer to true "single" status. In any case, early Ruth autographs on baseballs remain highly prized among discerning collectors, and you'll find few finer. A thrilling relic predating The House that Ruth Built.
