1920's Walter Johnson & Muddy Ruel Signed Baseball. Once described as "the greatest pitcher that ever scuffed a rubber with his spikes," Walter Johnson meant everything to his team. During the decade of the 1910's, the Senators won sixty-five percent of their games when Johnson got the decision and only forty-five percent when he didn't. And this was with mediocre supporting cast. Imagine what The Big Train would have accomplished as one of Mack's Men or Carrigan's Bosox.

Here, Johnson signs the side panel of an official league ball in 8/10 black steel-tip fountain pen. A light coat of shellac was applied over his autograph which served well in preserving it over these many decades. Fellow Senator Muddy Ruel has also signed the sphere, but his autograph is virtually illegible which allows Johnson to be displayed beautifully as a single. The ball exhibits wear, with some scuffs and discoloration, and the most of league stamping has faded but The Big Train shines like a diamond, just like he did when he was playing.
