    Description

1920's Rabbit Maranville Single Signed Baseball. Walter "Rabbit" Maranville was nicknamed "Rabbit" because of his diminutive features, but his play was anything but small ball. Playing an amazing twenty-three seasons, Maranville amassed 2,605 hits and 1,256 runs, while finishing as high as second and third in MVP voting.

For whatever reason in the 1920's, sporting goods manufacturers decided to make what is now termed the "outseam" baseball. Marketed for playground use, instead of the seams being sewn together as a normal baseball, the seams are turned outward and jut out considerably from the rest of the surface. These balls are fairly rare to find now, and certainly there can't be many, if any, others out there that sport the signature of Maranville on the sweet spot! This ball, which does show some playground use, is signed in fine 8/10 quality fountain pen. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
