Description

1919 Boston Red Sox Team Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth. Blissfully unaware that they were in the first of an eighty-six year drought, the defending World Champions autographed this OAL (Johnson) ball the year of the greatest scandal in Major League history. While considerable post-signing wear has complicated the legibility of the signatures adorning this ancient horsehide, we are able to discern the following among the names: Ruth, Barrow, Hooper, McInnis, Winn, Gainer, Shean, McNeil, Shannon and Dumont. Barrow leads the pack with 9/10 black fountain pen boldness, but the rest fall into the 1/10 to 3/10 neighborhood, including the Babe on the panel below Barrow. The lesser condition must be forgiven in light of the tremendous rarity and desirability of a Ruth-era Red Sox ball, however, one of just a tiny handful known to survive in the collecting community. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
