Description

1908 Boston Red Sox Team Signed Baseball. Experienced collectors are well aware that team spheres predating the start of the First World War are all but nonexistent, so they are properly intrigued by the specimen we introduce here, the oldest team ball we have yet to encounter at Heritage. Though our catalog imagery will illustrate that the Official American League ball has seen its share of adversity over the past century, the hobby gods have seen fit to spare the team's top names from the full punishment of aging. Clearly visible to the naked eye are the autographs of pitching legend Cy Young (3/10), Tris Speaker (3/10) and Joe Wood (5/10), who would make his Big League debut this season at the age of eighteen. We can also make out third baseman Larry Gardner (2/10). Several other autographs are visible, though we've been unable to ascertain identities of these. It should go without saying, however, that condition problems must be forgiven in light of the tremendous scarcity of this offering, which will set the winning bidder in a class of his own.
