Description
1872 Grizzly vs. Eagle Trophy Ball. Hand painted with the details "Grizzly - 17 - Eagle - 15 July 27th - 1872" upon one of the side panels, this information is all that remains of the affair between the two ballclubs. Stitched in a figure-eight pattern this regulation-sized sphere has been adorned with a coat of white paint and details carefully laid out in two-color black/red. Baseball shows its age with cracking throughout the exterior paint and a moderate tear/hole in the lower reverse along a stitch line. Though we know little about the teams or players, this early baseball relic should interest many a collector.Auction Info
