Description
1974 Oakland Athletics World Series Championship Ring. The Mustache Gang authors the first three-peat in Major League Baseball since the early 1950's. Reggie, Rollie and Catfish own hardware just like this pristine beauty, which was created on "spec" (and ultimately approved) as the prize for Oakland's Fall Classic victory over the Baltimore Orioles. A green stone on face bears a golden "A's" logo, hemmed in by text boasting "World Champions." Left shank features a three-leaf clover representing the three-season age of dominance and the equation "S+S=S." Right shank features a team logo and the words "Oakland" and "Finley," the latter, of course, the surname of the club's iconoclastic owner. Interior band is stamped "Josten's 14K." Size ten (10). This is one of a number of rings that Finley had made for presentation to friends and family, as salesman's sample rings (which likewise bear his surname) are constructed from ten karat gold.Auction Info
