1970 Don Drysdale Game Worn Uniform. This lot should create an all-out war between uniform style collectors and those who concentrate on Hall of Fame flannels, as this may present the most reasonable opportunity possible for the latter to own a genuine Drysdale. This home white flannel jersey and pants were sported by the Hall of Fame right-hander the season after he made his last mound appearance as a player, and the second season of existence for the expansion Montreal Expos. The birth of the franchise so close to the transformation to knit jerseys has left the hobby with only a handful of surviving Expos flannels, and this is arguably the finest of the bunch. Condition is spectacular, as is the design that sports Drysdale's number "53" and the logo "M" on the chest, and "53" repeated on verso. "Rawlings [size] 46" label resides inside collar, with "Set 2 70" embroidered in left front tail. The matching pants feature the typical "Rawlings [size] 38" and washing instructions labeling, with "Set 1 #8P 1970" flap tag. To the right is an artfully embroidered swatch, which reads, "Drysdale 53 38/37 33." Appropriate light coaching wear throughout. A gorgeous pairing that should be the pride of your collection. Acquired from the widow of Reyn Davis, a noted sportswriter for the Winnipeg Free Press. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000.
