Aaron's Braves get the best of the Mick's Yanks

1957 Milwaukee Braves World Championship Ring Presented to Johnny Riddle. Few World Series have seen a greater convergence of Hall of Fame legends. The Braves brought to this October '57 battle Aaron, Mathews, Schoendienst and Spahn, while the Yankees attempted to counter with Mantle, Berra, Slaughter and Ford. But Game Seven saw the Yankee bats fall silent, earning the Braves club the coveted World Championship ring. Here we offer the shimmering prize once proudly sported by coach John "Mutt" Riddle, who returned to the club after having briefly represented the Bees as a back-up catcher in 1937 and 1938. The rather simple, elegant design of this ring is so much more attractive and dignified than the gaudy style one typically sees today, with a half-carat brilliant cut diamond at the center of a basepath theme with rubies for the bases. Raised text running the perimeter reads, "Milwaukee World Champions." The left shank offers an engraved "John Riddle" and the word "Coach" framing the Braves logo, while the right pictures the Braves logo Indian head screaming the historic year "1957." Inside the band is stamped "Balfour 14K."

The ring exhibits minor wear and presents wonderfully, with sharp detailing throughout. Band measures to a size thirteen. It makes its hobby debut within this Platinum Night auction, consigned by Riddle's son, with his letter of provenance. Letter of provenance from son of Johnny Riddle.
