    Description

1943 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. The tales of Babe Ruth's kindness to children seem nearly endless, and we report another here, supplied by the consignor of this autographed sphere:

"This baseball was signed and given to me by Babe Ruth in the winter of 1943. I had caddied for him several times at our local golf club in northern New Jersey. When he learned that I had some surgery for a serious illness, he came to see me at my home. Before leaving he presented me with this ball on which he wrote, 'To my pal Dick, From Babe Ruth.'"

The Official American Association ball is exactly as described, the black fountain pen ink side panel inscription showing some surface wear that affects the signature but averaging to 7/10 in strength. Light shellac. Letter of provenance from original owner. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
