1917 Frank "Home Run" Baker Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 6. It's difficult to imagine in the modern age, when ballplayers have turned outfield bleachers into veritable hard-hat zones with their endless long balls, that a man could merit the nickname "Home Run" when he managed to hit fewer than one hundred in his entire thirteen-season career. It shows us just how much this game has changed from the Dead Ball era that saw the Hall of Fame third baseman as one of the most menacing batters in the sport's history.

This thick-handled signature model Hillerich & Bradsby spans the conversion of the game from Dead Ball to Live, but clearly this is a weapon most reminiscent of the former. At thirty-five inches (35") and thirty-seven and a half ounces (37.4 oz.), it perfectly matches Baker's preferred specifications, and the "250" stamping at center brand indicates the highest quality wood that H&B offered. Heavy game use is evident, with ball marks and cleat divots apparent throughout the barrel. Some indentations on back barrel may or may not date to Baker's ownership and do not affect display of the stamping side. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 6.
