    Description

Circa 1900's John H. Dockman & Son "Cornucopias" 120-Count Partial Carton. The Dockman brand is well known within the hobby as one of the first sets many newly indoctrinated candy card collectors build their collections upon. Offered is a circa 1900's cardboard carton of "Dockman's Cornucopias" candies. Inside are sixty-two of the 1-1/8" x 1-1/8" x 3-1/4" pyramid shaped candy boxes, all decorated in traditional red and green Christmas with cartoons of Santa and wide-eyed youngsters too excited to sleep awaiting Santa's visit. Candy boxes were placed on four levels (30-per level) separated by a thick piece of card stock. Except for a few, all have some or the full amount of the original sugary contents. A handful have damage and have opened. Candy boxes have product stains and soiling. The outer 7" x 11" x 5" carton shows its age with staining, tears, missing pieces and a loose top lid. There are four detached pieces included as well as all three liner cards that separated the layers. Considering the holiday motif these were obviously intended to be on display for a limited time on store shelves.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
