1989 Topps Test Doubleheaders Yankees & Mets Box with 24 Holders. One of the rarest and obscure Topps issues of the 1980s are the Doubleheaders Yankees/Mets cards which never made it past the test stage. Don't be surprised if you have never heard of them as most have not. The set of 24 features 12 New York Yankees and 12 New York Mets players. There is an "All-Stars" version with players from the 1988 All-Star game. Each double-sided cards showed the players 1989 Topps cards on one side and the players rookie card on the other. The roster includes names like Darryl Strawberry, Gary Carter, Dwight Gooden, Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield, Rickey Henderson plus others. The cards are only 1-11/16" x 2-1/4" and fit into holders for standing that measure 1-7/8" x 2-1/2." Offered is a full box with 24 holders.
