Description1972 Topps Baseball Fifth/Sixth Series Wax Box With 24 Unopened Packs. Topping out at 787 cards, the 1972 Topps baseball series was their largest promotion Topps had ever produced. Keeping with the style of the times, cards were flashy and stylish. Maximum visual impact was achieved thanks to the glossy white borders that surrounded a frame glowing with a combination of cyan, orange, lime, yellow, blue, green and red. Innovative cards include "Boyhood Photo of the Stars" and the first separate cards announcing player Trades and of course, the great "In Action" cards that allowed for second cards of the greats of the era to get in one more appearance. Issued in six series, as with previous high-number runs the 1972 high numbers are a tad more difficult to find.
Offered is a rare 1972 Topps baseball wax box with twenty-four uncirculated 10-cent wax packs from the concluding 5th (#'s 526-656) and 6th (#'s 657-787) series of the massive edition. As a 5th/6th series box, there is the potential for Mint or Gem Mint condition card featuring stars/HoFers like Don Sutton, Brooks Robinson, Ron Santo, Pete Rose, Pete Rose IA, Juan Marichal, Juan Marichal IA, Phil Niekro, Al Kaline, Nolan Ryan, Texas Rangers team, Steve Garvey, Rod Carew, Rod Carew IA, Bill Mazeroski, Dusty Baker, Ron Cey or Rick Dempsey (rookies), any one of eight "Boyhood Photo" cards of one of seven Traded cards that could feature Steve Carlton, Frank Robinson or Joe Morgan.
The box presents very close to overall mint condition. The 24 interior packs have passed inspection. The box comes sealed by Steve Hart-Baseball Card Exchange.

Signature®: Heritage Live!® Floor Sessions
Auctions designated as "Heritage Live" have continuous bidding from the time the auction is posted on our site through the live event. When normal Internet bidding ends ten minutes before the floor session for each lot, you can visit HA.com/Live and continue to place Live Proxy bids. Your secret maximum bids placed prior to the live event will compete against the live bids. When the item hits the auction block, you can continue to bid live through HA.com/Live against the floor and other live bidders with streaming audio and video of the auction. You also have the option to bid live by phone. Call (800) 872-6467 Ext. 1150 and ask for phone bidding assistance at least 24 hours prior to the live auction.
Signature® Sessions With Extended Bidding These sessions are presented only online and bidding is only taken through our website. There are two phases of bidding during this type of auction: 1) Normal bidding: Bids are taken up until 10 PM CT the night the auction closes. 2) 30 Minute Ending: On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding). If you are the only bidder at 10 PM, you will automatically win the lot at 10:30.
Important: After normal bidding ends, you must be signed-on to the Heritage site to see the bidding option on lots where you qualify for extended bidding.
