1906 Blanke-Wenneker Candy Co. "Nadja Caramels" Counter Display Box - The Missing Link. In an age when you can no longer watch television without a station logo constantly on the screen, it seems unheard of to put out a product without any type of credit. That was the case with "Nadja Caramels." The Nadja brand appears on only a small selection of trading cards. Non-sport fans have a couple choices, but it is their baseball cards that has made Nadja a household hobby name. The most sought after of the Nadja editions are the 62-subjects found in the E92 series.

A dozen St. Louis Players are only found with the Nadja branding and were only discovered in the 1970's. The E104-1 and E104-2 cards are East Coast favorites while totally unique to the brand are the very rare E104-3 series. When this 11" x 7-1/4" x 2" cardboard box was discovered is was the missing link between Nadja and its makers - The Blanke-Wenneker Candy Co. is based in St. Louis, which comes as little surprise.

The outside of the box is heavily water-stained and faded; the large gold "Nadja" logo is fully legible. The bottom has a "Packed by No. 3" sticker and the stamped date Sept. 27, 1906. Whatever its history, the inside has remained remarkably clean and unscathed. The inner lid shows some wear but the all-important copy is still bold and fresh in a regal purple hue befitting it status.
