Unique C. 1926 Underwood & Underwood Babe Ruth SGC 20 Fair 1.5. Underwood & Underwood was a photo service agency and a major source for images used for promotion. The scene is familiar - Babe Ruth taking a mighty swing during batting practice. What else could explain why the stands would be empty? The portrait is more commonly found on the crudely printed and small W511 Anonymous cards (Maroon and Blue tint cards are found in this auction). This large Black & White rarity measures 3-1/4 x 5-3/8", the image is finely printed offering much more detail. A U&U N.Y. copyright in in the lower left, a caption box in the lower right reds, "Babe Ruth - Outfielder, New York A.M.L." as if that even necessary. Graded SGC 20 Fair 1.5 for some spots of reverse surface loss on the blank back. This is the only example we have been able to confirm exists. A true rarity and a must-have for the Ruth collector.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
