Description

Extremely Rare 1916 Ferguson Bakery Grover Alexander Photo Prize Pennants Premium. Offered is one of the more spectacular premiums ever produced. These extremely rare premiums could be had for fifty coupons found in Ferguson Bakery products. The money spent would be quite steep for the time which probably meant very, very few of these were ever produced and delivered and would also explain why they are so rare a century later. Currently, only eight subjects are confirmed with only one or two of each known. The massive 23 x 9" felt pennant get its inspiration from the much smaller BF2 pennants but bring decoration and obviously size to a whole new level. The featured player is a young Grover Cleveland Alexander of the Phil. Phillies. The future HoFer and all-time great is presented via a 3 x 5" full figure pitching-motion portrait which is firmly adhered and in very good shape with minimal wear. The graphics, adhered to unstable textile remain exceptional all things considered. Most signs of aging appear at the very top adornment. The rich tan felt has some surface wear that affects just the top half suggesting the top was exposed to whatever life brought its way. Overall it is in excellent condition--even the delicate bottom tip that is so often partially missing is fully intact, coming to a sharp final point. Even the most advanced hobbyist with museum-quality holdings has to stop and admire a piece like this.
